A production update and a few words

Hello there…

There has been a slight delay on the release of “The Reckoning” that is a bit disappointing, but positive! I had originally planned to release the story in black and white, but after some suggestions and consideration I’ve elected to do full color pages. This change sets me back two weeks from now so it’s not to long of a wait. It’ll be worth the delay. Another update is the series logo is past its first draft and it looks pretty cool!

Hopefully I will be able to share the image shortly!

Also I am going to start blogging here a “How to“ create a comic book advice/tip info thingy…Nothing strict, but you know…a guideline.

So first things first! You need an idea, a concept and characters. That’s the easy part, here’s the tough/difficult aspect. You need to be original AND distinct. That is where I got hung up for awhile. Every idea I had got scrapped because everything I came up with seemed to be similar to another thing or already done. So here is a few things to consider.

Know what you want to do or say with your story! Start with one concept/idea and tell it in your voice, your experience and view. That’s what makes you stand out as a person/individual. No one sees the world as you do, if you can elegantly or crudely convey your story it could resonate and connect with others in ways not thought of. Again this is easier said than done.

What I did was make a list of ideas and characters, I then mixed and matched these concepts to make a rough framework. Then I looked within myself and thought about one thing I wanted to say or explore in only a way I can. The voice or soul of the story. After some reflection I put the framework and soul together, this is something I did until the framework and soul spoke to me…or to not be dramatic, until I felt I had something to work with.

Next is character creation, I’ll continue this concept in the next post!
